Limiting Factors of the modern whales evolution
After millions of year of evolution the
modern whale is a very diverse animal. One of its species, the Blue Whale
represents the epitome of evolution. It lives healthily for up to 100 years, is
the biggest mammal on earth and subsequently has nearly no predators. Because
it is such a successful animal there is no reason to believe the modern whale
has faced any limiting factors that is hasn’t been able to overcome.
If the whale was to have limiting factors they would not be evolutionary but as a result of human evolution. Effects of humanity on whales include; hunting, waste pollution, noise pollution (from sonar, which affects their ability to communicate), fishing nets, collisions with boats, and global warming.
